A family planning service is available and the clinic is held every Wednesday morning. Postnatal checks are also carried out at this clinic.
Morning After Contraception
Despite the fact that we can supply most forms of contraception, there may be occasions when people do not take precautions during sexual intercourse.
The morning after pill can, in fact, be used up to 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex, although the sooner it is taken the more effective it is. Because of this, in addition to the practice offering the morning after pill, it is also available from local chemists free of charge. Please contact them for further details.
Cancer of the cervix is easily treated and it is important that all females between the age of 25 and 65 have regular smear tests to detect early signs of the disease.
Appointments for smears can be made with the practice nurse.
We have a trained counsellor available at the surgery. Referrals are usually made by a doctor or nurse.
